In May, we explored the inconsistencies in movie star Brad Pitt’s attitude toward guns and gun ownership.

He and his wife Angelina Jolie often end up on listicles of celebrities who own guns, and then there’s the often-cited quote from PItt: “America is a country founded on guns. It’s in our DNA. It’s very strange but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don’t feel safe, I don’t feel the house is completely safe, if I don’t have one hidden somewhere. That’s my thinking, right or wrong.”

But in the spring, Pitt co-chaired the May 4 Brady Bear gun control awards gala in Los Angeles, which was set up to honor President Bill Clinton, who signed the Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act more than 20 years ago. The move had a lot of gun rights supporters scratching their heads.

Well, there’s no doubting the Pitt/Jolie household does indeed have at least a couple guns on hand, and they’re pretty cool.

This piece from reveals photos of a pair of Cisco 1911 pistols created for Pitt and Jolie by infamous vehicle customizer and reality TV star, Jesse James, who gained a lot of negative attention after a nasty breakup with movie star Sandra Bullock.

From James’ Firearms Unlimited website: “So almost five years ago I decided I was done with California and especially Hollywood, and everything it was about. I came to Texas and reconnected to my passion for building things with my heart and hands. I took my skills and knowledge of metal and started applying it to firearms. It is very special to me that some familiar faces from that past life recognized what I was doing and wanted to be part of it.”

“I built this custom pair of Cisco 1911’s for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Both are Government size. Her’s is chambered in 9mm and his in .45 ACP . Both are hand fit from all oversize parts, making them incredibly accurate, well shooting pistols.”

The photos reveal the slide of Jolie’s pistol, and the words “Mama Knows Best” amid some extensive scrollwork.

On Pitt’s pistol, the words: “Big Papa” are in the same place.

Both guns also include custom grip panels with filigree and contours to match the slide and frame. They also look to have extended beavertail grips, along with extended slide release levers.
