Fans of World War II fighters and 1911 pistols can have two passions in one with the new Squadron commemorative pistol from Auto-Ordnance. The 1911 features distinctive graphics reminiscent of the U.S. aircraft, such as the “shark mouth” of P-51 Mustang fame and the Army Air Corps insignia. “The overall appearance makes for a pistol that looks like a WWII fighter plane getting ready to race into the skies hunting bandits!” Auto Ordnance said in a press release. “Auto-Ordnance is proud to offer this latest custom 1911 in honor of the pilots who flew in defense of our nation during WWII. May their bravery and sacrifice always be remembered!”
Chambered in .45 ACP, the commemorative piece is coated in a worn black and gray Cerakote that gives the 1911 an antique look. In addition to the “shark mouth” nose art and Army Air Corps insignia, the unique gun is finished with a rivet pattern similar to that found on WWII-era fighters. The Auto Ordnance 1911 is finished with checkered wood grips that boast the U.S. logo. The limited edition handgun has a suggested price of $1,106 and ships with a seven-round magazine.
