A sheriff in Florida is calling on citizens to arm themselves in preparation for an attack, according to this story from palmbeachpost.com.
The story says Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted the four-minute video above on Facebook explaining his position after a recent workplace shooting in Orlando claimed the lives of four people.
“Folks, now more than ever is the time for our citizens to be prepared to serve as the first line of defense, not only for them, but for their families when the attack happens,” Ivey says in the video above.
Ivey calls himself “one of the most politically incorrect sheriffs in the country” in the video and urges those who are legally allowed to carry a gun to do so to protect themselves. He tells anyone uncomfortable carrying a firearm to carry a Taser instead.
Ivey also criticizes Britain’s “Run, Hide, and Tell” policy, which was highly publicized after the recent London attack, saying that doing nothing to protect yourself isn’t going to save your life.
“This is war, and you better be prepared to wage war to protect you, your family, and those around you if attacked,” he says.
Ivey made a similar plea, the story says, in December 2015 after the mass shooting terror attack in San Bernardino, California. That video racked up more than 4 million views, the story says.
