Henry Repeating Arms has jumped on the 6.5 Creedmoor train with the release of its Long Range Hunter lever action rifle chambered for the popular medium and big game caliber.

Unlike Henry’s other lever guns, the Long Range Hunter feeds from a detachable box magazine instead of a magazine tube, so it can handle any 6.5 CM rounds on the market, regardless of bullet shape.

The new rifle has a 22-inch blued steel sported barrel that is free floated above the foreshock to maximize and maintain accuracy even as the barrel heats up after repeated firing.

The buttstock and frond are figured grain American walnut that is deeply checkered and capped with a solid soft rubber recoil badd at the back and a steel foreshock cap at the front.

Internally, the rifle platform uses a geared action that drives a chromed steel bolt with a six-lug rotary head into a rear extension of the barrel for a strong and consistent lock-up, similar to bolt guns, which is essential for long-range accuracy.

In 6.5 Creedmoor, the rifle holds four rounds in its flush-fitting detachable box mag, which is released with a steel magazine release button.

The rifle doesn’t feature any external manual safety, instead utilizing sliding transfer bar safety.

The other three chamberings for the Long Range Hunter, .223 Rem, .243 Win, and .308 Win are available with or without iron sights, but currently, the 6.5 CM version is only available without irons, but that may change as we get deeper into 2019.
