Here’s a really cool new range product that will help add some variety to your shooting sessions.
The HoldZall target holding system from Wisconsin Trigger is a minimalist target stand that can pretty much hold up anything you want to shoot, within reason.
The product website proclaims “if you can fit a rubber band around the target item, the HoldZall will hold it.”
The system comes with couplers and straight rods allowing you to adjust the height of the target, which can be anything form a water bottle to a lit match. As the site suggests, you can even use a few balloons as your targets on a windy day for an extra challenge.
Let’s face it, punching holes in paper is fine for shooting drills and practice that is actually meant to chart progress or improve shooting in fine degrees, but it can get boring when you just feel like doing some plinking.
Something like the HoldZall can allow you to shoot at a variety of targets without littering the range with trash or having objects that were once targets become tumbleweeds across the range, rolling through other shooting lanes with the wind.
Frankly, the device isn’t that complex and you could probably fashions something similar with some raw materials and some patient bending. It’s basically a two-pronged fork with the tips bent outward so that a rubber band can be strung between them, the target to be shot held first between.
As long as it fits inside the fork, you can shoot it.
Whether the HoldZall intrigues you or not, it’s a good example that can get your mind going about other ways to set up something down range that can hold a variety of targets that can make shooting more fun, engaging, and rewarding. Get inventive, while staying safe and being considerate of your shooting range and fellow shooters.
