Sylvester Stallone has had one of the most varied and explosive careers in cinemas history, from his rise as an award-winning writer / actor to an action movie icon who helped define the pop culture of a couple decades, at least. He’s had more than one comeback, and at 72 years old, he’s starring in a fifth Rambo movie in 2019.

During his long career, he’s fired a bunch of guns on screen. Like, a lot. So many that we had to break his movies into four eras, listed below.

Take a tour of Stallone’s career through the firearms he has used on screen, from his earliest roles and the introduction of action’s most enduring character, to an action movie revitalization and the chance for some old faces to get some fresh screen time in a new century.
