We’ve all seen the massive deck guns that arm destroyers and other U.S Navy vessels and you may think of WWII era sailors in teams with huge wire brushes cleaning the bores when you wonder how these guns get cleaned.
In the old days it may have been about elbow grease, but today, it’s about robots. The gif above shows you a modular robot used for cleaning the insides of large-caliber gun barrels.
In the video below, you see a promo for a similar device designed for tank barrels. You’ll see that the steps are pretty much the same as what you would use to clean your rifle barrel at home, wire brush, patches, oil, clean patches—just on a much bigger scale.
So my question is…how long before they put out one of these robots sized for a .223 barrel?
