SIG Sauer announced a new line of hunting cartridges today: Elite Hunter Tipped ammunition.

SIG says the rounds are designed for massive expansion and deep penetration with “Instant knockdown capability and maximum terminal performance at extended ranges.”

The premium cartridges feature a yellow-tipped, lead-alloy bullet with an enhanced boat tail design for superior flight characteristics over a wide range of velocities, the company says.

The concentric, blackened jacket also serves to produce reliable, controlled expansion with maximum weight retention, the goal of any good hunting bullet.

The casings are nickel-plated to aid in extraction and offer significant anti-corrosion qualities. SIG says they used custom formulated and precision loaded powders do deliver consistent velocity across a range of atmospheric conditions. The whole cartridge is finished with a primer matched to the proprietary powder blend to insure dependable ignition.

At the front of the bullet is a translucent yellow tip that SIG says “increases ballistic coefficient while improving terminal performance and aiding in consistent, reliable chambering.”

“Our new Elite Hunter Tipped line of premium rifle ammunition is designed and engineered to be a devastating game load with exceptional long-range accuracy and performance,” said Brad Criner, Senior Director, Brand Management and Business Development, SIG SAUER Ammunition in a release.

“SIG Elite Hunter Tipped ammunition delivers superior downrange energy and massive expansion for a clean kill whether you are hunting whitetail, mule deer, antelope, elk, predators or a variety of other game species,” he added.

The new SIG Elite Hunter Tipped ammo is now available in the following loads, that are all being manufactured at SIG’s ammo plant in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
