Springfield Armory recently announced the release of two of its high-end TRP 10mm 1911 pistols, one with a 5-inch barrel and one with a 6-inch barrel, with a Trijicon Ruggedized Miniature Reflex sight milled into the slide, hence the name of the pistols: the Springfield TRP RMR.

It’s truly a testament to how far reflex optics have come in recent years that they can not only handle riding the slide of a handgun, but the additional kick from the snappy 10mm.

According to the company, Springfield chose Trijicon “for its ability to stand up to the power of the formidable 10mm round.”

The sight s made from 7075-T6 aluminum to mil-spec standards and has a patented shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens, increasing durability.

Both the standard and long-slide versions of the TRP 10mm RMRs feature forged National Match frames and slides, precision-fit to match-grade stainless steel fully supported barrels.

Both the frame and the slides are coated with the company’s Black-T finish to withstand heavy use and harsh environments, Springfield says. The long-slide version has an OD-green frame.

The front strap and mainspring housing are checkered in Posi-Lock for a firm yet comfortable hold. A TechWell Magwell/Grip System allows for rapid mag changes under stress without adding any more bulk to the contour of the gun.

The pistols include an ambidextrous safety lever and Springfield Armory’s Gen 2 Speed Trigger, which is set to a 4.5- to 5-pound pull.

Both guns ship with two 9-round magazines.

“Take Springfield Armory’s most elite production platform, the TRP, and add a Trijicon Ruggedized Miniature Reflex optic, and you’ve got a critical-use 1911 like nothing else – the new TRP 10mm RMR,” the company says.
