The second John Wick sequel starring Keanu Reeves officially has a title: John Wick: Parabellum. The title is a reference to a famous quote in Latin, but it also has another meaning for gun people.
Reeves explains in this post from comicbook.com: “It’s part of that famous sentence, ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum,’ which translates as, ‘If you want peace, prepare for war.'”
So it looks like this third film will be a culmination of the events from the first two, John Wick and John Wick Chapter 2.
In both previous movies, Wick’s handguns of choice have been the Heckler & Koch P30L in the first film and customized Glock 34s with the TTI Combat Master Package in the second—both guns are chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum.
Reeves also gave some insight to comicbook.com about the movie’s plot, and newcomer Halle Berry:
Halle Berry’s character Sofia, who he says enhances his character, John Wick.
“[He] is fighting for his life and thinks that Halle Berry’s character (Sofia) has some information for him. They have a past, and they get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity,” Reeves said, laughing.
Laurence Fishburne, who had a small part in the second film and starred in the three Matrix movies with Reeves, is reprising his role in Parabellum as the Bowery King. The rest of the class includes Ian McShane, Asia Kate Dillon, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, Mark Dacascos, and Lance Reedick.
John Wick 3: Parabellum is scheduled for release on May 17, 2019.
