Wisconsin Company Buys Every Employee a Handgun For Christmas
That's a heck of a bonus.
Wisconsin-based BenShot, a company that produces novelty glassware embedded with a bullet to appear as if the glass had been shot (BenShot? Get it?), has decided to give every employee a handgun of their choice as a Christmas present.
USA Today reports that the owners of the Hortonville, Wisconsin small business will be giving their employees whatever handgun they want this year as a Christmas gift, handing out a total of $8,000 in gift cards.
Ben Wolfgram, co-owner of BenShot, said he decision to give employees handguns as a gift was made as part of an effort to promote personal safety and team building.
The father-son business was started in 2015 in a garage workshop, but has grown to 16 full-time employees. Some of these are veterans, and some have never fired a gun before. No worries, though, as the company’s executives are offering gun safety course as part of the gift.
Wolfgram says most workers were excited about the gifted revolvers. Employee Chelsea Priest of Green Bay told USA Today that she feels that the gift will empower her and will help keep her safe. “I’ve never been a part of anything like this,” she said.
According to the story, Wolfgram isn’t worried about workplace violence because the small staff all know each other well.
“For us, now, we have an entire armed staff,” Wolfgram said. “I think that’s pretty good.”
Neither story says what kind of revolver was gifted.
